Ralston Community Theater’s core offering is our summer musical. Originally conceived as part of the Ralston Community 4th of July festivities, we’ve proudly served as a cornerstone of Omaha’s summer entertainment since 1979!

In the Heights is a vibrant, Tony Award-winning musical created by Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton) and Quiara Alegría Hudes. Set over three sweltering summer days in New York City’s Washington Heights, the show tells the universal story of a tightly knit Latino community on the brink of change—where the coffee from the corner bodega is sweet, the breezes are scarce, and the air is alive with the sounds of three generations of music.
At the heart of the neighborhood is Usnavi, a charismatic bodega owner who dreams of returning to the shores of his native Dominican Republic. Around him, a colorful cast of family and friends pursue their own dreams: Nina, the neighborhood’s star student, returns home from her freshman year at Stanford carrying a heavy secret; Vanessa, a talented salon worker, yearns to move downtown to launch a career in fashion; and Benny, a hard-working taxi dispatcher, falls for Nina while striving to build a future of his own.
When a winning $96,000 lottery ticket is sold at Usnavi’s shop and a sudden heatwave triggers a citywide blackout, tensions, romance, and ambitions boil over. Guided by the love and wisdom of Abuela Claudia—the neighborhood’s cherished matriarch—the community must navigate shifting identities, rising gentrification, and unexpected tragedy to discover what it truly means to belong.
Powered by an infectious, groundbreaking score that blends hip-hop, salsa, merengue, and classic Broadway pop, In the Heights is an uplifting, high-energy celebration of family, hope, and finding where you belong.

Children’s Show (To Be Announced )
In 2016, Ralston Community Theater started a program focused on providing arts opportunities to Ralston Public Schools 3rd – 6th Graders. This program is provided at no cost to the families involved and has been met with tremendous success and enthusiasm. We look forward to the future as we continue to expand this program and advocate for arts opportunities for the children within our community.
